The Links, Incorporated focus on five specific areas, known as facets. Facets and related national programming have been developed and enhanced over the years in order to meet the evolving needs of our community. For each facet, our Great Lakes programming is developed in alignment with national Links guidelines to meet the specific needs of our Metro Detroit community. Services to Youth The Services to Youth facet was established to equip black youth to use their intellect and spirit of achievement to grow into successful and productive adults. Our chapter programming for Services to Youth includes mentoring initiatives, health education, STEM/STEAMM education and more.
Health & Human Services The goal of Health & Human Services is to promote and execute programming that supports the maintenance of good health and the elimination of chronic health disparities in communities of color through education, health advocacy and optimal utilization of health resources. Our chapter programming includes heart health education, mental health education, efforts to reduce food insecurity, oral health youth programming and more.
The Arts The Arts facet creates and supports programs designed to enrich the quality of life in communities of color through educational and engaging art experiences. The Arts programming encourages our youth to explore and nurture their artistic abilities. Our chapter programming includes supporting original youth artwork as part of our National Poster Art Competition and youth museum tours.
National Trends & Services The National Trends & Services facet works to eliminate disparities by reducing barriers to resources through advocacy, education, and service. Our chapter programming includes facilitating conversations between the community and law enforcement, voter education and financial literacy education for youth.
International Trends & Services The International Trends & Services facet delivers transformational international programs to people of African ancestry to improve their quality of life. With a focus on women and children, programs are designed and developed to meet educational, health and cultural needs and to help people emerge from poverty. Our chapter programming includes donations to those living in Haiti and support of girls in Ghana with monthly feminine care items.
